Rachel Zoe in Velvet

The Met's Costume Institute celebrated the opening of American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity this week. Rachel Zoe showed up on the red carpet in an amazing yellow velvet Marc Jacobs gown.
We love this dress and it makes us so intrigued by the new trend of velvet! Here is a body skimming velvet dress from Urban Outfitters that would be the perfect little black dress with a twist.

Favorite Rachel Zoe motto/quote...

A Slice of Rachel Zoe's Hectic Life and Who's in it

Rachel Zoe has been known to choose/create paparazzi favorites out of her clients, which doubles as walking advertisement for her work. Zoe works with Hollywood celebrities, and high fashion tycoons. In her earlier years of working as a stylist for YM magazine, Zoe dressed starts such as Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Zoe now has an estimated 20 clients that pay her $13,000 a day to be dressed for big events, clients including Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner, Eva Mendez and Demi Moore. Zoe once reported that ,“For an entire year, Lindsay wanted to wear three different looks a night, We were changing in cars, in bathrooms. I would have to bring two assistants with me so we could exchange the clothes, shoes, bags and jewelry, because what am I going to do with the clothes when she takes them off? You can’t just leave diamonds in the car! But do you know how many designers she hooked up? When Lindsay would wear Chanel, it would sell out in four hours.” Never a dull moment in the life of a celebrity stylist is, that much has proven to be true for our Miss Rachel .

One event that sticks out in my mind is the Golden Globes of 2009. Rachel Zoe’s clients for that event included Anne Hathaway, Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendez, Debra Messing, and Demi Moore. As she took on the five A-listed clients, she did what only Rachel Zoe would do. For Cameron She had chosen a pink haute couture Chanel dress for Cameron Diaz. Of course, with Rachel’s luck the dress was still in Paris days before she needed it, and on top of that, the dress had an “unwanted” sleeve that Zoe did not see as fitting. What kind of person tells Karl Lagerfeld that they want to cut the sleeves off HIS dress?!? Rachel Zoe that’s who. In the end it all came together and Cameron looked stunning as ever, and was thought to be the eye catcher of the event, but Eva stole the show. She wore a white Dior gown, and her neck was flooded with gorgeous turquoise stones. Simply Stunning. No need to be over the top when you’ve got a stunning dress, and a few statement jewelry pieces.
